GOD’S WRATH AND HIS RESCUE ROMANS 1:1-20

Though angry at human sin, God crafted a rescue for sinners. The creation gives plain evidence of God. No one is without excuse. The guilty need to hear what Jesus has done to make them right in God’s eyes. No wonder Paul was bold in sharing the good news about Christ.

Prophets wrote that Christ would come

From family of King David as prophesied

Proven as Christ through resurrection

Roman believers (saints, holy ones) called to Jesus (6-7)

PAUL DESIRED TO TEACH AND SHARE THE GOSPEL IN ROME

Praise God: Faith of Roman church known world-wide (8-9)

Paul’s goals in visiting:

Strengthen believers in Rome (10-11)

Swap encouragement with Roman believers (12)

Add believers to the Roman church (13-15)

THE GOSPEL SAVES BELIEVERS FROM GOD’S WRATH

Salvation comes to those who believe the truth about Christ (15-16)

Those who believe are counted as not being guilty of sin (17)

Salvation is needed due to God’s wrath toward sin (18)

Creation shows enough about God to make all accountable to Him (19-20)
